Pre-disco Disco from 1975 with a superb catchy singalong chorus.
Candy Bowman "Since I Found You (Love Is Better Than Ever)

Album of the year for me.
PAUL WELSBY - September 2009
Sunburst Band “Sitting On Top Of The World” (DJ Meme Mix) Z Records 12”
Finally on vinyl, a marriage made in disco heaven. The best track on The Sunburst Band album given a DJ Meme makeover, the results of which are a feelgood disco classic in the making.
Pazazz “So Hard To Find” (7 Samurai Remix) Soulplex Records 7”
German label official re-issue of exceedingly rare groove brassy dancer from 1979 given a 2009 polish.
Cookin on 3 Burners “This Girl” Freestyle Records 7”
Great early 70s crossover feel to this brassy soulful 2009 dancer from Australia of all places. Must be the best Retro-Soul sound this year.
Aretha Franklin “Don’t Let Me Lose This Dream” UK Atlantic Records 7”
I’d forgotten just how good this Parkers’ classic was until Dean Johnson played it at the first Daylight back in June. It’s an airy jazzy mid-tempo dancer from 1968 with THAT voice on the top. Class.
Shirley Caesar “He’s Got A Love (That Will Last Forever)” HOB Records7”
If you like Aretha, you’ll love this 1979 gospel swayer from another one of gospel’s great voices. A superb ender.

Cool Million “Lift Me Up (To The Sky)”
It’s a European concoction mixed by the father of all remixers, Tom Moulton. It’s the sound of disco in 2009.
Michael Watford “Holdin’ On”
Big voiced Soulful dance from 1992. Sounds so current it’s unbelievable.
The Temprees “I Found Love On A Disco Floor”
Storming bouncy dancer from 1976 along the lines of the pre-fame Tavares or an uptempo O’Jays.
Audio (feat Vince Broomfield) “Kisses Don’t Lie”
I’m not certain whether it’s an old recording from the vaults just seeing the light of day or a 2009 retro-recording ......but who cares. It’s a great 80’s style dancer
The 5th Dimension “No Love In The Room”
The epitome of 70s “Cravat Soul” (do we still use that genre?). Smooth but soulful last half hour tune with a message. Picking up plays at some discerning venues.
